Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your information when you visit our website, contact us, or sign up for classes at Rank Up Martial Arts.

Effective Date: May 22, 2026

1. Who We Are

Rank Up Martial Arts is a traditional Taekwondo studio located at 410 W Capitol Expressway, Suite 20, San Jose, CA 95136. References to "we," "us," or "our" in this Privacy Policy mean Rank Up Martial Arts. You can reach us at (408) 256-3090 or rankupma@gmail.com.

This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect through our website at rankupmartialarts.com and in connection with services we provide.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide to us

We collect the information you choose to give us. That includes:

  • Contact form submissions. When you fill out the contact form on our website, we receive your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and the message you write.
  • Trial registration. When you register for the two-week trial, you provide your name, contact information, your student's name and age (or date of birth), and payment details. The trial registration is processed by our third-party scheduling and enrollment provider, Jibasoft. Payment information is handled by Jibasoft and is not stored on our servers.
  • Ongoing enrollment. Students who continue past the trial complete an enrollment form that includes emergency contact information, a participation waiver, and (with your written consent) a media release.

2.2 Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

  • Standard log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring page, pages visited, and timestamps.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: small text files and browser storage entries that remember your preferences (such as your cookie consent choice). See Section 4 below.
  • Analytics data: aggregate information about how visitors use the site (which pages are viewed, time on site, device type). This is only collected if you accept analytics cookies through our consent banner.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your questions and inquiries.
  • Process your trial registration and ongoing class enrollment.
  • Communicate with you about classes, schedules, promotions, and studio updates (only with your permission, and you can opt out at any time).
  • Maintain student safety records, including waivers and emergency contacts.
  • Understand how our website is used so we can improve it.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies on our website:

  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (deployed through Google Tag Manager) to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate. Google Analytics sets cookies that record page views, session duration, device type, and approximate location at the city level. We do not collect personally identifiable information through analytics.
  • Embedded content. Our Contact and Home pages embed a Google Maps frame. Google may set cookies in connection with that embed. See Google's privacy policy for details.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies will not break the site. You may also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent your visits from being recorded.

5. Third Parties We Use

We rely on a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the website and the studio. Each handles certain information under its own privacy policy:

  • FormSubmit (formsubmit.co) processes contact-form submissions and forwards them to our email inbox. FormSubmit receives the contents of the form. Their privacy policy is available on their website.
  • Jibasoft handles trial signup, ongoing enrollment, and payment processing. When you click through to register for the trial, you leave our site and are subject to Jibasoft's privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics 4 (deployed via Google Tag Manager) collects aggregate, mostly anonymized data about site visitors. Google's privacy policy applies.
  • Google Tag Manager is the tag-management framework that loads our analytics tags.
  • Google Maps embeds power the map shown on our Contact and Home pages. Google may set cookies and collect technical data when the map loads. Google's privacy policy applies.
  • Google Fonts serves the typefaces used across the site. Google receives standard web-server log information (such as your IP address) when fonts are loaded.
  • Hosting provider. Our website is hosted on Hosting.com. Standard server logs (IP address, request timestamps, status codes) are maintained for security and performance.

We may also share information when required by law, in response to lawful legal process, or to protect the safety of our students, instructors, or the public.

6. Children's Privacy

Many of our students are children ages four and up. We take children's privacy seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Our website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children online without verifiable parental consent. Information about minors is collected from a parent or guardian during enrollment, in person or through forms that the parent or guardian completes and signs.

If you believe a child has submitted information to us through the website without parental consent, please contact us at rankupma@gmail.com and we will delete that information.

7. Photo, Video, and Media Release

We may take photographs or video of classes, belt promotions, demonstrations, and studio events. These may be used on our website, social media, printed materials, and other promotional channels.

We will not publish identifiable photographs or video of a minor student without separate written consent from a parent or guardian. Photo and media consent is requested separately at enrollment and can be revoked at any time by contacting us in writing.

If a photograph or video featuring you or your child appears on our website or social media and you would like it removed, contact rankupma@gmail.com and we will take it down promptly.

8. Your Privacy Rights

8.1 California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have certain rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act:

  • Right to delete personal information we have collected about you, subject to certain legal exceptions.
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share personal information. You can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on if you want to prevent your visits from being recorded in analytics.
  • Right to non-discrimination. We will not deny services, charge different prices, or provide a different level of service because you exercised any of these rights.

To make a request, email rankupma@gmail.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." We may need to verify your identity before responding.

8.2 Everyone

Regardless of where you live, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, opt out of marketing communications, or withdraw consent we previously relied on. Email rankupma@gmail.com to make any of these requests.

9. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. Our website uses HTTPS encryption. Our third-party service providers each maintain their own security standards.

No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is fully secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If you have reason to believe your interaction with us is no longer secure, please contact us immediately.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as required by law. Specifically:

  • Contact form submissions are retained as long as your inquiry remains active, then archived or deleted.
  • Trial and enrollment records, including waivers and emergency contacts, are retained for as long as you remain an active student and for a reasonable period afterward to satisfy legal, tax, and safety obligations.
  • Analytics data, where applicable, is retained according to Google Analytics retention settings (typically 14 months).

11. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of every site you visit.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the website. Your continued use of the website after a change indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.

13. Contact Us

It reflects standard best practices for a small California-based business, including the California Consumer Privacy Act and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.
